Construction Update: January 2023

Construction work has commenced on a new access road off the B6415 RP15 junction to create the inner road link which will service the new Shawfair Town Centre. Work started on 28/11/22 with the first phase of work due for completion in October 2023 . The work will extend the previously constructed RP15 Road on the B6415 to tie into Harelaw providing a through road to Shawfair Station.

To ensure the safety of the public and works force we have closed the footpath route highlighted in red and a diversion route has been set up through Millerhill which is detailed in blue. Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout to the public right of way at the back of the manse for access to Shawfair Station.

The closure of the paths will commence on Monday 16th of January until the end of September 2023, to allow the installation of new District Heating, BT, Electric and Water services.

Minimising disruption

RJ McLeod (Contractors) Ltd, one of Scotland’s leading privately owned civil engineering and building contractors, has been appointed as main contractor. Construction vehicles have been instructed to avoid built-up areas where possible, and all work will be undertaken during the permitted hours of 8am to 7pm weekdays and 8am to 1pm Saturdays. A new site compound and construction access will be formed off RP15 B6415.
